News: research trip to Hawai‘i
In June, Billie Lythberg (Associate Investigator) and Emily Parr (Post-Doc) visited Hawai‘i for the Artefacts of Relations project.

The Artefacts of Relations: Building in Te Moananui wānanga was held at Piritahi marae from 28-30 March 2025.
The wānanga was a special opportunity to gather in the beautiful wharenui, Kia Piritahi. This was our third meeting; the 2023 and 2024 workshop sessions were convened through ASAO, in Kona and then AUT. Contributors discussed the ongoing development of their papers in three panel sessions: contemporary architecture for Māori & Moananui communities; cross-cultural architecture in the transitional period; persistence of the traditional artefact. We are incredibly grateful to have shared this time together at Piritahi.
