News: research trip to Māʻohi Nui

In December, Rau Hoskins (Principal Investigator) and Emily Parr (Post-Doc) visited Māʻohi Nui for the Artefacts of Relations project.

Rau and Emily travelled to Tahiti, Moʻorea, and Raʻiātea to document fare Māʻohi and interview people who hold knowledge around them. Highlights included visiting Fare Hape and a ceremony at Taputapuātea. We saw beautiful fare, and recorded interviews with Heifara Doudoute, Matahi Tutavae, Tihoti Barff, Puarai Mario Tureva, Unutea Hirschon, Claude and Gerard Amiot, and Vehia Wheeler. Ngā mihi nunui to our guides, Matahi, Tihoti, and Vehia.
